The Zimbali Coastal Estate, near Durban, consists of about 400 hectares of which 15% is natural forest. This forest and the old gum tree and sugarcane plantations (which have been rehabilitated) are now the home to an amazing range of indigenous wildlife.
Geoff Nichols authored A GUIDE TO THE FAUNA OF ZIMBALI and in it he describes the species that he encounters on his many walks through the area. The estate is home to over 230 species of birds, an abundance of insects; snails and slugs, rodents, bats, reptiles, mammals and freshwater fish.
Beautifully illustrated with over 700 full-colour photographs, A GUIDE TO THE FAUNA OF ZIMBALI is an excellent species guide for all who live in or visit the eastern coastal region. It is a useful gift to fellow nature lovers and a lovely coffee-table book.
