A Field Guide to the Antelope of Southern Africa
Published by WESSA-KZN, this book is aimed at the layman wanting to identify an antelope and as such is an invaluable companion for any interested person and for every visitor to any of our game reserves or wilderness areas. For quick and easy identification, the key has been based on field characteristics such as colour, markings, the shape and size of bodies and horns.
Antelope of Southern Africa. The original 1974 edition has an astonishing success story in that the first 10,000 copies were sold out within a year. A further eight reprints followed (85,000 books) and finally an update with new exquisite photographs, additional identifications and text was done in August 2005.
Unique keys are used: based on horns, size, body shape, markings and colouring.
Devised by the late Dr. “Nolly” Zaloumis, one of southern Africa’s leading conservation figures, this key quickly enables the observer to pinpoint one of 33 species covered and that occur naturally in southern Africa and then refers the reader to a detailed description of the animal.
